Using Text Fade '99 you can make great looking text effects with the click of a button. No HTML Experience is needed, simply copy and paste into any html document. It's that easy.

The top is a jpg graphic which is over 9000 Bytes in size-
The bottom is all HTML tags (Black background table, with faded text in the cell, and large font size) - the code is only 507 Bytes! That will let it load almost 20 times faster than the graphic! Notice the text quality is also BETTER because it does not go through a compression algorithm like jpg and gif images.

Differences become more dramatic with longer strings of text. The more text you enter, the more shades of colors that will be produced, which will produce a smoother blend from the start to end colors.

How about something better looking? New browsers (IE 4+, Netscape 4+, and  AOL 5+) support background images within a table so the following look almost identical in new browsers.

Notice how I said "almost" identical because the lower one wins, hands down. It has more colors, and the letters were not distorted when filled with a color like in the .GIF image on top.  The total size of the top gif image is: 25,000 Bytes...
Total size of the bottom Table, background image, ball gif, and faded text html is only : 5,000 Bytes. The bottom loads in one fifth the time it takes the top to load, not to mention it looks better, and was easier to create!

Now I'm not saying TextFade created everything you see in the bottom image, it did not. It was only responsible for the faded colors. However, if you could create the top image, then you could create the bottom image in much less time, and it would load much faster.

Four Effects
    1) Original Fade - What made TextFade 1.0 such a hit, pick two colors and TextFade '98 does the rest!
    2) New Fade - "Fades" based on hue and brightness for interesting effects.
    3) Random Colors - Gives each character a random color.
    4) Middle Fade - Fades from one color to another, and back again.
